One of the five pillars of our Social Support Model focused on equipping families and communities for sustainable, long-term food security.

PLANT. CULTIVATE. FEED.

Our Overture Social Support Model is built on five essential pillars: empowerment, education, nutrition, housing and healthcare.  Farming literally feeds all five pillars in some way, because when farming prospers, community members are healthier and more productive in all areas of their lives.  That's why equipping farmers is critical to developing long-term food and economic security in the communities we serve.

Overture's programs are designed to provide families with opportunities that enable them to have access to food and reduce food insecurity through their own efforts and income.

Planting Seeds of Independence

Long-term food security and self-sufficiency are always our goals, which is why we foster local farming by providing 120 acres of crop-share land to ESPWA’s surrounding communities.

This program provides more than 60 farmers access to farmable land, seeds and other supplies to grow their own food and surplus that they can market.

Overture also equips farmers in the communities we serve with resources that expand crop production to meet all of their nutritional needs and create food security for their communities.  Resources may include irrigation equipment, tools, seeds and/or fruit trees.

Cultivating Self-Sufficiency

Overture conducts comprehensive community assessments to strengthen local leadership in identifying nutritional needs and development of long-term food security goals.

Training workshops are provided by professional agronomists and other experts to determine what crops are most impactful for the community.  Technical training is also provided to equip community members with the knowledge and skills needed for nutritional success.

Feeding Futures

Overture partners with community schools to implement school lunch programs that allow program directors to purchase goods from local markets, start small student gardens and hire community members for meal preparation.

Professional social workers and public health workers provide training for staff and parents on proper nutrition and sanitation to improve the overall health and well-being so children have all the advantages for learning.
